Perfect Fried Tofu

Apparently I am in the mood to recreate my favourite foods from my favourite cafes. This particular recipe was inspired by Cafe Komodo on Prospect Road. This cafe is incredibly cute, with vintage tables and chairs, bright walls and super friendly staff. I often get the tofu burger or a tofu salad and the tofu involved is always divine. Going to Komodo is always a treat.

Serves: As many as you like.
Time: 10 minutes.

What you need:
  • Extra firm tofu, cut into either fingers or squares. Use as much as you need, depending on how many people you are feeding and how hungry you are.
  • About half a cup of flour.
  • Enough oil for shallow frying.
  • Some paper towel.
Method:

Cut the tofu and dip in the flour, covering each side. The flour should stick as the tofu will be slightly moist. it doesn't need to be thick, but it does need to cover the tofu. In a fry pan, heat the oil over medium heat. Add the tofu and allow to fry each side for a couple of minutes until golden brown.
Take out of the fry pan and drain on the paper towel. Pat each side to ensure excess oil is drained.
Use the tofu for a wrap or a salad. Add your favourite veggies and dressing.
