It was my duty as the one in this relationship with a day off to go and purchase the Big Day Out tickets for me and my best buddy.
I did this and then I meandered the streets of Adelaide and surrounding areas. This became quite a dangerous task as the time passed and my stomach started to make these noises that were so loud I'm sure shocked shop keepers would be thinking there was a lion in the room with us.
After going into an asian grocery store, where I bought a can of jackfruit (I am going to give pulled jackfruit "pork" a go), I headed over to Everything Vegan, Adelaide's swanky vegan supermarket. That place made me spend too much money. I know I shouldn't go grocery shopping whilst hungry but I was there and I don't regret it.
I purchased this Redwood ready made pizza, in Ham and Pineapple. Now, I'm not a big fan of meaty style pizza's (obviously). Back in the day my favourite pizza was a margarita with BBQ sauce, olives and pineapple, so maybe ham and pineapple wasn't the best choice for me. Despite that, this "chuck in the oven and cook" pizza by Redwood's was good. It reminded me of school lunches, ordering pizza's from the tuck shop. Plus they use their own Redwood brand mock meats and cheese.
It's all gone now. That must be saying something.
I also bought Notzarella, which I have been mad keen to try for ages! I'm looking forward to that one in a big fat toastie. Cheese was the hardest thing for me to give up as a vegan. I stopped eating milk and butter about ten years ago but cheese was something I lived on up until 4 years ago when I was able to kick the habit finally and for good. Every now and then, I do like exploring the different vegan cheeses out there, and sometimes I even make my own. I tell you what, vegan cheese has come a long way in the last few years. It's an exciting time to be vegan.
